For my scrapbooking friends - NO, not a garden girl on twopeasinabucket.com. Since I'm off looking for new employment, I asked Randy to help me with this garden box project that I saw in BH&G magazine. He took a day off last week and helped me buy the supplies and build the box. Today I planted tomatoes, cucumber, crook-necked squash, zucchini squash, banana peppers and jalapeno peppers. The pot next to the garden box is Melissa's strawberries. I've never planted a vegetable garden before and I'm excited to see how this goes. If all goes well, we are going to build 3 or 4 more of these boxes next year. The article in the April 09 BH&G has them all out in front of a potting shed. This one is to the side of where Randy's shop will be one day so I thought it would be cool to have them all out in front and landscape his shop as the pic in the BH&G -- so pretty and functional. Here's hoping I have a green thumb with vegetables. I do fine with flowers and plants so we'll see. I'm excited. I hope that next year I can plant enough that Mama can help me learn to make pickles and salsa to put up as she does each year.

Pickles and salsa. I want to learn to do this also. Maybe Donnie garden will so well too. He had me out there Monday afternoon covering everything up, with all those sheets from the camper. Last year we had lots of tomatoes and peppers.
Debby we need to spend a day in the kitchen at Mama's house learning to do this! I hope his garden goes well too!
Oh I am envious! We are wanting to grow tomatoes this year. I cant have a garden in the rental house but I am going to get a big planter and hopefully grow some tomatoes. Let me know how your veggies turn out.
